Please read

This page gives general information in simple words. It is not advice for your own case. What is right for you depends on your examination and your reports. Your doctor will explain your options and you decide.

Common questions

Is every lump cancer?

No. Most lumps are not cancer. But a lump that is growing needs to be examined, and sometimes a small test called a biopsy is done to be sure.

What is a biopsy?

A small piece of the lump is taken and sent to a laboratory. It is done with the area numbed. The report tells the doctor exactly what the lump is, which decides the treatment.

Who decides my treatment?

The surgical oncologist and the medical oncologist look at your reports together and explain the options to you and your family. Nothing is started without your agreement.

Can I take a second opinion?

Yes, and you should if you want one. Ask for copies of all your reports — they are yours.

Not sure which doctor you need?

Call the front desk. Tell them your problem in your own words and they will tell you which doctor to see, and when to come.
