This page gives general information in simple words. It is not advice for your own case. What is right for you depends on your examination and your reports. Your doctor will explain your options and you decide.
Common questions
Do tonsils always have to be removed?
No. Most throat infections are treated with medicine. Removal is considered only when infections keep coming back often, or when the tonsils block breathing at night.
Will my hearing come back?
It depends on the cause. Some causes are treated with medicine, some with a small procedure. A hearing test tells the doctor what is happening.
My child keeps getting ear infections. Is that normal?
It is common in young children, but repeated infection needs checking so that hearing is not affected. Bring the child rather than waiting for it to pass.
Is sinus surgery painful?
Most sinus problems never reach surgery. If it is advised, your surgeon will explain what is done and what recovery looks like before you decide.
