Common questions

Will every stone need an operation?

No. Small stones often pass out on their own with medicine and plenty of water. A scan tells the doctor the size and position of the stone, and that decides the treatment.

Which test will be done first?

Usually a urine test and an ultrasound scan. Both are done in the hospital and the report normally comes the same day.

Is blood in the urine always serious?

It always needs to be checked, even if it happens once and stops. Do not wait for it to happen again.

Do stones come back after treatment?

They can. Drinking enough water every day is the single best way to stop them coming back. Your doctor will tell you how much.

Not sure which doctor you need?

Call the front desk. Tell them your problem in your own words and they will tell you which doctor to see, and when to come.
